By Wendy GardnerWe are now approximately 12 hours into the 36 hour Raid the North race at Sun Peaks, BC. All 23 teams still remain on course and the top teams are setting a blistering pace. As of Saturday at noon 10 teams had passed the rappel (CP6) and were somewhere on the 37 km paddle section. Staff at CP7/TA3 had spotted a team getting close to the end of the paddle which is a good 3 hours prior to anticipated race times.
All teams have completed the first trek section and now teams that are not yet at the paddle are spread-out between the bike leg and the trek to the rappel. The fast times for the top teams might mean a finish time of under 24 hours. |
